Ph.D. candidate Yao-Lin Tsai visited Yuan Ze University in Taiwan and met distinguished Professor Yeh-Liang Hsu. Professor Hsu is the editor-in-chief of the Gerontechnology journal for the International Society for Gerontechnology and founder of the Gerontechnology Research Center (GRC) at Yuan Ze University.
During the visit, Yao‑Lin participated in a research meeting at GRC— a hands‑on session highlighting ongoing projects, planned revisions, and future research directions. Professor Hsu also provided a guided tour of the Yuan Ze University campus and the surrounding community. He also arranged for several of his students to introduce Yao‑Lin to the laboratory facilities.
The visit showcased emerging applied gerontechnology, including smart mattress for fall detection and analyses of daily routines through household electricity and water use. Exploring these technologies offered valuable opportunities to learn from their novel assistive insights and consider how such systems might be integrated into our own methods and future projects.
